On Friday, June 12, the City of Boston experienced a powerful celebration of Haiti’s culture, resilience, excellence, and global pride.
The U.S. Haitian Chamber of Commerce was honored to host DISCOVER HAITI in partnership with the W.K. Kellogg Foundation, the City of Boston, and the Consulate General of Haiti in Boston.
We welcomed hundreds of attendees along with an extraordinary delegation that included:
▪️ Prime Minister of Haiti, His Excellency Alix Didier Fils-Aimé
▪️ Haitian Ambassador to the United States, His Excellency Lionel Delatour
▪️ Foreign Minister Raina Forbin
▪️ Consul General Regine Etienne
▪️ International diplomats and consular representatives from Mexico, Brazil, Taipei, and more
▪️ Members of the W.K. Kellogg Foundation, funders, philanthropic leaders, and friends of Haiti including representatives connected to the Clinton Global Initiative and other organizations
DISCOVER HAITI was more than an event — it was a movement to change the narrative about Haiti during this historic FIFA World Cup season.
From Haitian food, music, sports, art, business, history, and entrepreneurship, attendees experienced the richness and global impact of Haitian culture and people.
Powerful performances by KS Dance, BIC, and Berthelot Jeremie energized the audience, while Miss Universe Haiti Melissa Sapini inspired attendees with remarks about representing Haiti with pride on the international stage.
A special thank you to poet Charlot Lucien for his moving poetic summary of Discover Haiti and to James R. Colimon and Jean Julien for their impactful closing remarks.
One of the highlights of the day was our Haiti Trivia Experience, where attendees tested their knowledge about Haiti’s history and culture for an opportunity to win prizes while learning more about our nation’s incredible legacy.
During his remarks, Prime Minister Alix Didier Fils-Aimé emphasized an important message for Haiti’s future:
“Trade, not aid.”
Our President & CEO Dr. Hans Patrick Domercant reminded attendees that:
“Haiti’s story is much bigger than the headlines.”
We thank our incredible Chamber leadership team and volunteers, and all of our partners and supporters who helped make this historic event possible.
Together, we are building a stronger narrative for Haiti — one centered on opportunity, culture, innovation, investment, and pride.
The world is watching Haiti. 🇭🇹⚽
